Who am I?
I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember, but my interest in journalism didn’t start until third grade when I did a biography project on Nelly Bly. While I still wasn’t sold on being one when I grew up, the idea of journalists as people who break barriers and help the public was very romantic to me. In middle school I started the Wilson Times, a newsletter that we made on copy paper using Microsoft Publisher. From there, I became more and more invested in it.
In high school I became a staff member on the best student-run publication (maybe there’s a little bit of bias there), The Wy-News. My advisor, editors, fellow reporters, and All the President’s Men helped me to truly develop a passion for journalism.
I started off in the Warrendale neighborhood of Detroit’s west-side. Then, my mom and I briefly ended up in Troy, NY, a suburb of Albany for her job. Eventually we found our way to Wyandotte, where we currently liv with my step-dad and brother.
